Breathing Room

It's Thanksgiving week so I finally have a break from school for a few days. Well, it's not really a break; I'm still going to have to do a ton of homework, but that's life. It's looking like Thursday at Karl's folks house with Karl, Shannon and Chris, and then Saturday with the folks.

I'm typing this from my room as I've moved the PC in here temporarily while the guys are sanding the hallway and repainting. They've already repainted my room white and beige. I think next week the carpet comes out leaving the hardwood floors beneath.

The rummage sale was mostly a success, other than it raining Saturday, and there being a bit of confusion about a bike. However, all is well now, and I've learned a few things that you guys might like to know:

Thursday and Friday are the hot days for rummage sales. I guess a lot of retired people come out. Also, set up an hour before your advertised time unless you want the rummage sale buzzards coming and knocking on your door a half hour early. I've rarely met more rude people than these professional rummagers. What a life.

Congrats to Ed and Anjali on their new jobs. Ed moved to Chicago a few months back and Anj is going to be heading to San Diego. How exciting for you both! So much for a bad economy eh?

Rummage Sale / Plans / Kaz Nuptials

After many years, my father has decided to sell his beloved 1970 Jaguar E Type, which is sitting in one half of their garage. I remember it running during parts of my childhood, but for quite some time it has been in need of a clutch, which to my understanding requires removal of the engine. In any case, time has passed, and it became part of the garage, so much so that I've stored a good bit of crap behind and around it. As Dad's now purchased a new car, which he intends to store in the spot where the Jaguar is currently sitting, I need to move all of that crap. Rather than move it all, I figured why not just sell it all? Hell if I want to move that crap again.

Enter the rummage sale: Friday and Saturday from 9-4:30 I will be sitting out by the garage hopefully selling most of that crap. In truth it's really not ALL crap; there is actually a good bit of gooders out there. I've put an ad in the paper which should start today. I would have done it Sat-Sun, but I've heard that Friday is a good day for these things...maybe retired folks come out or what not.

So, if you're bored during those times, please stop by and say hello. I'll be chilling out on a lawn chair praying for sunshine and people. It would be nice to have some company, and if you have some of your own crap to sell, feel free to bring it.

Afterward on Friday will be AP's birthday bash in Pewaukee. Afterward on Saturday, I think I'm going to trek down to Chicago to see Deep Dish spin, followed by crashing at Karl's and Dim Sum in the morn. Let me know if you're interested in any of that as well.

Finally, a big congratulations to Scott and Catherine on their wedding celebration! The reception was held at the Wisconsin Club, and was great fun. I'll post some photos soon.

Weekend

Last weekend, I went up to Stevens Point to visit Blotto and Amy. We had a nice time visiting, and on Saturday Blotto and I went for a walk with their black labrador, Lily. Then we made a nice dinner and watched Bowling for Columbine, which I'd never seen. Overall, it was a great time, and I'm glad I went. I have posted a photo album for your enjoyment.

I returned to Milwaukee to study for my two midterms which I took on Monday and tonight.

Last week I went to see an advisor to figure out what to take to get out of school ASAP. I assumed that I would be told that many of the courses that I have taken are overlapping and will not count toward whatever degree I decided on. Happily, he told me that I only needed 30 more credits to finish my degree in English. So, after this semester, I will officially be an English major! wooooooooot.... Let's see what's up in local news:

MILWAUKEE: Record 5400 Men Weep in Milwaukee's East Side Streets

On Saturday, the city mourned the loss of Milwaukee's most eligible bachelorette, Wen-Tyan Soo. Apparently, in a moment of weakness, Ms. Soo accepted a marriage proposal by Jay, of Jay and Silas Bob fame.

"Bling Bling!" Soo said with glee as she showed the rock off to family members. The wedding party will be comprised of a star-studded cast. When asked for further comments, Soo added "the whistle goes woo-woo!"

Seriously though, Congratulations Tyan and Jay! Love ya tons!

Burnout

Man i'm reading a lot lately. Monday I turned in 5 damn papers. Good thing it rained Sunday and I couldn't go to Great America. Otherwise I would have never gotten them done.

My Uncle Tatt was in town from Singapore, and we had a good time. His business takes him to Hanover NH once in a while, so he comes here once a year or so bearing lobsters. Yum! He went fishing with Dad on Saturday and then on Sunday we took him to El Rey for some Mexican, which he doesn't get much of in Singapore.

This weekend I think I'm gonna head up to Stevens Point to see Blotto, and sometime this week I wanna catch Matrix Revolutions. Anyone else doing anything fun?
