New photos in the Wedding album.
Sorry it’s been so long folks, but I’ve been busy with wedding- or relative-based activities. A hearty Congratulations are in order for Tyan and Jay who were married on Friday afternoon!
Relatives started pouring in on Thursday, and since then there has been a lot of hustle and bustle. Friday around 3, Mom and I showed up at the Wisconsin Club to get ready. The girls were upstairs getting primped, and the guys had a dressing room downstairs complete with drinks and a cheese-sausage plate. After struggling with ties and corsages, we were ready for action.
The Buddhist ceremony went smoothly and lasted for half an hour. Most of the guests (including me) had never experienced a Buddhist wedding, so this was interesting. Afterwards, everyone was led outside for cocktails and hors d’oeurves by the gazebo in the courtyard. The food from Ujala Tandori was apparently delicious, but I was too busy with photo shoots to know.
By 7, we found ourselves inside gearing up for the reception. I was appointed Emcee, so got things started with a welcome-thank you speech. There were several other nice speeches spaced out throughout the meal.
The meal was very good, in part because we had met with the chef beforehand to discuss and plan the menu. They did a great job of meeting our expectations for an Asian fusion dinner. Instead of wedding cake, Tyan opted for a few plates of tarts and individual cakes.
The band, 5 Card Studs was on fire. People were dancing until the end of their second and final set. The highlight was definitely groom Jay (Geils) being carried around on a chair while the studs cranked out their rendition of The J. Geils band’s “Centerfold.”
Overall, this was the most enjoyable wedding I’ve been to. I hope that if I ever get Shanghaied into another one, that mine goes off as smoothly as Tyan and Jay’s did.
Yesterday, I took Oliver to Great America and then to O'Hare airport.
Many of the relatives are gone, although cousin Wei-Loong as well as Chyi and Jonas are still in town. I have my own bed back, which is a good thing.
I hope to catch up with you all soon.
Tyan looks Angelic in main photo. Nice work Jay! *pats on back*

I didn't know it was at the Wisconsin Club. I drove by there and saw lots of stuff going on. It looked fun! Glad everything went off well!

Yeah Johnny, you should have swung in. I could have swore I told you about it. Oh well, another time!

Kor, thank you again for everything. You were wonderful, as emcee, host and my brother. You helped in a major way to make sure everything went smoothly. With your help, it made it a day to remember and I even had a great time! Imagine that, control freak stress bag! :)
thank you again. Love you,
tyanny
