New photos in the Holiday Album.
Christmas Eve is the night our family has our Christmas dinner, so the day before, all of us were busy preparing popiah (basically a Chinese burrito-type dish but way way better). Friday after dinner, we opened presents. Everyone seemed to like the presents that I gave, and I got a few nice things as well.
Christmas day, we went to the Bussler's house, like we do every year. It's always great to catch up with the Tosa crowd. They're all good peeps that we've known since my folks moved to the U.S. when I was a kid.
Sunday was a St. Steven's day party at Brendan's parents' house in Shorewood. Us "kids" sang the "Wren Song" and "Jingle Bells" much to the delight of the rest of the partygoers. Brendan's mom sure knows how to lay out a party spread. I don't think anyone left hungry!
Apparently there was Irish dancing, but I didn't witness it since I had a poker tournament online that I had won a seat into. Unfortunately, I didn't win, but you can't win them all. I still have the big Party Poker Million qualifier early next month too.
Today, us kids went over to the Gagrat's house for an amazing Indian lunch. We don't get to see them very often, so it's nice to catch up on old times. Afterwards, Chyi and I ran some errands and then headed home. She is leaving tomorrow for home in Paris.
I am gearing up for the New Year's snowboarding trip up north. It looks like we have a pretty good crowd, so it will be fun. After I get back, I plan to do a bit of cleaning, and play a lot of poker. Oh, and catch up with any pals I haven't had a chance to do so with. Then, January 13, we leave for Vegas.
In other news, my car is fucked. I brought it in because of a recall notice, and also because it was making a horrible grinding sound when I was almost stopped. It turns out that I need four tires, a tune up, and rear brake pads and rotors to the tune of $1900. They gave me a BMW 3 series as a loaner, which was nice, but man they sure know how and where to kick a guy. Merry Christmas, eh? I get my car back tomorrow.
